Horti farewell dinner
After the new Horti exco was elected, of course we had to say bye bye to the seniors.
It's so sad because the seniors are such a lovely bunch of people. I can't bear to leave them. Sob sob...
We met at City Hall mrt at 3.30pm. We couldn't decide where to go so we decided to make up the programme along the way.
First, we played pool and went to the arcade.
I was so lousy! I kept missing the ball and had so many fouls. Haha. But it was a fun game nonetheless.
Then we went to Marina Bay for dinner. It was a seafood buffet and we had to have 2 tables because there were too many of us. The good news is, our tables were still joined together.
My table [made up of Mun Bbun, Venkat, Kaijun, Shan Ren and Yong Bin] couldn't eat beef or pork but I didn't mind, because i don't really like it either.
So, we had CHICKEN! Lots and lots of chicken.
But it was really nice. I only had to sit and eat, because the guys were doing all the cooking. Haha. Lucky me!
Kaijun acted like he was drunk after the dinner. Maybe he had too much chicken. Haha.
All in all, the buffet was quite cheap. Only $12 nett per person.
We spent more than $50 on drinks. I guess that's how they make all their money.
I really enjoyed myself! Thanks to Teng Wen for bringing us to such a wonderful place.
After that, we went bowling. I really wanted to bowl because the last time I touched a bowling ball was last year, I think. But my score was really lousy today!
Kaijun taught me how to spin the ball, but I couldn't really get it. That explains the low score. Haha.
Hopefully, I'll be able to get it some day. By the way, I realised that Kaijun's a really good bowler!
I had lots of fun today. The only sad thing is that today is our farewell dinner.
I'll surely miss the year 2s lots! They are such a warm, friendly, crazy, lame and wonderful bunch!! We should go out more often.
Horti rocks!

New Horti exco
I have good news for everyone!
I'm the Horticulture Society Chairperson!
I was really hoping to become the chairperson. If I didn't make it, I would have been so disappointed.
The positions and names were written on bananas.
The year 2s showed us the name of the position on one side of the banana, then turned it over to reveal the name on the other side.
So interesting. And we could keep the banana too.
I really wanted to keep it as a momento but I couldn't, because it would rot.
So I had it for breakfast the next morning. Savoured every mouthful. Haha.

friday the 13th
As the title suggests, today is friday the 13th.
A supposedly day of bad luck.
But luckily, nothing bad happened to me today.
Today, Horti sold flowers at the guitar concert to raise funds for the Sri Lankan tsunami victims.
Since I was the one who initiated it, I was really worried that the response would be bad.
Mrs Chuah suggested ordering 20-30 stalks but I ordered 40 instead because I felt that 20 was really too little.
So I was scared that we couldn't finish selling then I would get blamed.
But actually horti people are very nice, so I don't think they will blame me. Haha.
We ordered 20 stalks of gerbera. 10 red, 10 yellow. 15 red roses and 5 sunflowers.
The stall was set up at 6.30pm and people already started buying. So I became quite optimistic about the sales.
In the end, we sold everything except 1 sunflower by 8pm.
And we decided to go back if not we would have to wait for the interval to continue selling.
I don't deny that the sunflowers really looked dead.
That's why we had 1 left over even when we ordered only 5.
In the end, we made about $20. It's not bad, considering the amount of capital we put in.
We're thinking of selling next week for the chinese orchestra and strings concert as well.
Hopefully, we'll be able to make more then and I'll be sure not to order sunflowers.
At least not the dead ones. Haha.

NAFA test
A--Sit ups : 40
A--Inclined pull ups: 25
A--Shuttle run: 11.11 s
B--Standing broad jump: 168cm (1 cm to A!)
B--Sit and reach: 47cm (3cm to A)
B--2.4km run: 14.46mins (16s to A)
I did super well for pull up today. Don't know why, I did 25!
Usually by the time I do 10, I'll be like dying. But today I didn't feel tired at all after doing 10. Haha. Miracle!
The teacher at the pull up station saw my black socks and she said she wanted to divide the number of pull ups I did by 2 because of them.
But of course she didn't.
Actually, a lot of people wear coloured socks also what. No big deal.
And I'm also super surprised with my results for shuttle run and standing broad jump. I only hoped to get a C for standing broad jump because I'm usually not good at that.
The first time I jumped, I got C, and missed B by 2 cm. So I decided to try for B. Who knows, in the end, I did so well that I missed A by 1 cm. I really "jumped" up 1 grade. Haha.
But I didn't have the chance to try for A because pe was over.
Anyway, I'm really pleased with my results. Shutle run also.
I was scared because I wasn't very good at it and we didn't practice it at all during other pe lessons.
But the first time I ran, I got A. So happy!
This year, I managed to get a gold!
Hopefully, I can get gold for next year too, and it'll be better if I can get all As. Haha.
Better start training for next year!
Horti exco elections
Today we had horti exco elections.
I ran for chairperson.
Overall, it went quite smoothly.
I think my speech was quite alright because Ryan told me that it was not bad. That's good!
At least I don't have to worry so much now.
Yong Bin went first, followed by Li Zhe.
After that, I volunteered to go next because I felt that all the stuff I wanted to say was being said by the other members.
I'm scared they think I copy. Haha.
I didn't write out my speech. But I didn't memorise it intentionally as well.
I kept thinking about what to say for my speech the past few days. I was so worried that I would forget so I kept rehearsing wif myself over and over again.
At night, I kept rehearsing my speech. I didn't do it intentionally.
I guess I was just too anxious. I could only sleep when I talked to myself till I felt tired.
But luckily I remembered everything that I wanted to say. Yay!
My speech was about my vision for horti, my past leadership experiences and my character.
For my vision, I said I wanted to make horti a more "happening" cca in Vj by organising more flower sales and more activities for our members.
As for my past leadership experiences, I was honest la.
I said I wasn't a student leader before, but I was very willing to learn and that I would do my best for horti.
Mostly, my speech was about my willingness to serve horti and to learn stuff that I don't know.
And I swear! I really meant everything I said! I don't bluff one you know. Hee.
Melissa and Ryan also ran for chairperson. Melissa's speech was quite interesting, while Ryan's was long.
Ryan really had a lot of ideas for horti and I think he's really an asset to horti because he knows so much and we can learn from him.
Actually I think he would make an excellent chairperson, but during his speech, he was a little arrogant. That kinda scared people off.
The other people's speeches were fine too.
Jia Yan ran for vice chair.
Actually I think she should run for chairperson. She has such a good chance of making it! I asked her to run for chairperson, but she refused. Don't know why.
Anyway, Yong Bin said he was running for chairperson last week. But today he ran for treasurer instead. I think he's capable of becoming chairperson as well. I guess he's too busy.
I really hope that I can become chairperson of horti.
Aniway, after the elections, I realised that all the chairperson candidates wanted to make horti a more happening cca.
Then I realised that I like horti actually because we're such a small cca and so everyone is very close.
If horti really becomes a more popular cca in Vj and more people join, then I think that "close" feeling won't be there anymore.
I like horti because we're all so close and know each other well.
I hate it when the cca becomes so big that we don't even know some people in the same cca!
Right now, I can juz hope for the best.
Hopefully I can become chairperson and make horti a better place!
Looking forward to the results next week.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Wednesday
Today is Wednesday. Duh! Haha.
I went swimming today.
It's the first time I'm swimming wif Li Ling.
I love her purple swimming costume. So nice!
She didn't perform well today because I think she hasn't swam for quite a long time.
But I just have this gut feeling that she's very good.
Today we only swam 2.2km altogether.
Towards the end, we did short sprints. It was really tiring!
We had to sprint 25m continuously.
But luckily, the girls only had to do half of what the guys did.
The guys swam continuously while we only had to swim the alternate 2 laps. Haha. It's good to be a girl!
So of course, I didn't go for Biz today since I went for training.
Angela told mi that Sinhui became president. Good for her.
Anyway, the horti exco election is next thursday.
Right now, i feel like running for chairperson, but I'm still not sure yet.
Firstly, it's because I'm afraid that not enough people will vote for me.
Also, I think Ryan and Jia Yan may run for chairperson and they have good chances too.
And I'm afraid that the trip to Pulau Ubin on saturday might not have been planned too properly so it might affect my chances.
I also don't know if I can cope with so much stuff or not.
Haiz... So much stuff to worry about. I think I'm stressing myself out!
No wonder more and more pimples are popping out on my face!
I haven't made up my mind about the election but I hope I can come to a conclusion soon.
There's horti meeting tomorrow.
Looking forward to it!
