Leadership seminar
Day 1
Today is the first day of the leaderhip seminar. It's called "Operation: Backwoodsman". Sounds cool. But I think it sounds more fun as a camp instead of a seminar though. My group is called "Apache". I wonder how they came up with such weird names. It's actually quite cute. Haha.
It was quite a boring day because there were talks and workshops to attend.
Nothing much happened today.
The worst thing was that I actually didn't bring a sleeping bag!
Because during the briefing, a lot of people said it would be troublesome to bring. So i purposely "forgot" to bring.
In the end, everyone else brought. Makes me feel kinda stupid.
So, I had to sleep on the cold, hard floor. Sounds sad right? But it wasn't that bad. I guess I wouldn't be able to sleep well with a sleeping bag anyway.
Oh man, who am I trying to kid? Having a sleeping bag would definitely help me sleep better. I guess saying it wouldn't would just make me feel better.
Day 2
Today is another day of workshops again. I can't really remember much actually. I thought the highlight of the day was dinner.
It's called Backwoodsman Cooking. We had to help prepare dinner. My group prepared dessert.
It was half a banana slit lenghtwise with marshmallow and chocolate sauce stuffed inside. Then it was wrapped in aluminium foil.
Weird combination. But it tasted good anyway.
There was extra marshmallow and chocolate sauce so we started dipping the marshmallow into chocolate sauce and ate them while the others were still cooking.
One group dug a pit and guess what? They dug it in the garden!
Now there's a patch of freshly dug groud. Looks like someone buried a body in there. Creepy..
Anyway, back to dinner.
The chicken was buried in the pit with some hot charcoal and cooked while we had a talk.
The talk was super boring. Didn't learn anything from it. I was looking forward to dinner throughout.
When it was time to eat, we took a piece of chicken each from the pit. Some of my friends had chicken with uncooked parts.
Eww.. Mine was slightly burnt though. But I would rather have mine burnt than uncooked.
And at night, again no sleeping bag. I slept on the tables that night. It wasn't very comfortable, but it was indeed better than the floor.
So this marks the end of the 2nd day. I was super tired. But I still didn't have a good sleep. I miss my bed!
Day 3
I thought this was the best day of all. We had ice breakers and we really got to know one another a lot better.
There were 5 stations to play games. My favourite was the trust fall.
Needless to say, I aced it. If not, why would it be my favourite?
It was super scary standing so high and I thought I wouldn't be able to do it. But after I fell, I knew I did well. Haha.
So proud of myself. It was super fun!
Overall, I thought the best part about this seminar was staying in school overnight.
So fun! But I still think it would be better if I brought my sleeping bag. I miss my bed so much!!
I made lots of friends too.
But I wonder if we'll continue to keep in touch, especially after not seeing one another after the long June holidays.
