Gym stuff

I went to the gym today, and yesterday.

I should start working out since I haven't been going for swimming trainings since the competition. That's like almost 2 months!

So I can feel my muscles going soft, and a little weight gain.

Should start getting into shape again.

I decided not to do really strenous exercises because that'll make me hate exercising.

I know, because I've tried before.

For these 2 days, I've done some light jogging and weight training. It's not that tiring after all. It's even fun!

Just a few things to take note of when you go to the gym:

1) Music

This is the most important thing! Listen to fast, catchy songs to make your workout really enjoyable. And make sure it's loud! It's like dancing to the beat. I do 3 sets of 10 minute runs on the treadmill so each set lasts about 2 songs. It's easier to pass your time this way, rather than looking at the timer and counting down to the end of your exercise.

2) Handphone

Try not to bring your handphone, unless you're waiting for a really important call. It helps because you can concentrate on your exercise.

I like working out, because when I do, it keeps my mind off everything. I think about nothing and can only hear the loud music blasting away. Feels so relaxing!

3) Water

Drink warm water. Yup, that's right. WARM water. Not hot or cold water. No hot water because it's hot. Duh! Besides, you wouldn't want to make yourself warmer when you're perspiring like mad. Cold water isn't good for you because it lowers your body temperature too quickly. I forgot what it does to you, but it's just not good.

Warm water is in between. It feels nice since it's about the same temperature as your body. Anyway I can't drink cold water during exercise because it gives me a stomachache.

4) Air-con

If you're exercising in a gym where you can control the temperature, don't switch it on too low. If not, you won't be perspiring. It feels weird to exercise and stay dry. These 2 just don't go together. Perspiring makes you feel good too, but remember to take a bath later or you'll stink! Haha.

5) Attitude

Don't think of exercise as torture or you'll find yourself making excuses to skip your workout all the time. It should be fun. If you find it too tiring, lower the intensity. Doing a little is better then not excercising at all!

And cutting short your workout is a no-no. Don't even give yourself that option or you'll find yourself cutting corners all the time. Enjoy the workout and have fun!

That's all the tips I have for now. Remember to take lots of water afterwards and enjoy!
