Nice cookies!
It's the second day of work and the both of us are getting the hang of things.
Today, I wrapped cupcakes, prepared fruit cakes and made chocolate pound cake!
We had to squeeze the pound cake mixture into the sall containers and it was a complete mess! But the cakes still came out fine anyway.
Then later, 2 chefs - I think they are the head chefs or something - came into the pastry kitchen. Initially, Zhang Lan said she wanted to take leave this Thursday because she had to help out at the senior dinner and dance. She even bought her gown! But the 2 chefs said the president was coming on Thursday and there was lots of stuff for us to do. So in the end, she couldn't go!
But the thing is, are we really that important? Can't they cope without us? Hmm...
Anyway, for dinner, there was nasi lemak. It was nice, but I still miss my Mum's dinner since I always have dinner at home usually.
After dinner, at 6, we started making cookies. Zhang Lan made coconut cookies and they came out perfect! It was so beautiful, just like it was done by any other chef in the kitchen.
Looks like we're really catching up.
For me, I coated a biscuit stick in chocolate, then put peanuts on it. Just like a giant pocky. Haha. And it was so fun and easy to do so I was really happy.
While we were making the cookies, another chef gave us log cake to eat! It's because these log cakes couldn't be sold tomorrow so they were brought back to the kitchen. It was soooooo nice! I've never tasted nicer log cake.
The cream was nice, not too milky and there was a little mango taste although I'm not sure was there any mango added. Haha. That mad eme so happy. I also don't know why...
After I finished the giant pocky sticks, I made the gingerbread coin, like the one I made yesterday, just that this one is smaller.
And I was also very happy because the cookies came out so nicely too.
I also got the hang of using the roller. Now, my dough comes out flat and not as broken as yesterday's . Haha. So happy.
We finished baking at around 9.30 then went to the cafeteria for a drink before going back.
There wasn't anyone in the cafeteria so we tried a little of all the drinks that were there.
All in all, I felt very satisfied today. And I'm looking forward to going to work again tomorrow.
I just have one question... Why do chefs stand and not sit? - because my legs are aching terribly...
