Uniform fitting

I had to go down for uniform fitting at Conrad Hotel today. It's for my pastry making job.

Only 2 people in VJ were chosen for this, out of the 20+ people that applied and luckily, one of them was me, and the other is my friend, Zhang Lan! Haha. We're so lucky.

Hope we'll have fun working together!

She was supposed to go down at 4pm, and I was to go down at 5pm. But both of us weren't sure how to get there so we met at 3.30.

In the end, we found the place really quickly and went in before 4.

We went to the Human Resource department which was at B1. It was a really busy place with people carrying stuff and moving around. So different from what we saw at the quiet hotel lobby above.

We didn't know which room was the human resource department and a nice guy showed us the way. He even opened the door for us! What a gentleman. He was wearing a white uniform. Like some bai ma wang zi (price charming). Wahaha...

A lady briefed us about our jobs. We had to bun up our hair and wear black socks. Those stuff were ok, unitil she told us our working hours...

3pm to 11pm!!!

The thing is, it ends so late, I don't even know if I can take bus home. But most importantly, I won't be able to watch all my favourite television shows! I'm a televisoin freak so if I don't watch tv, I'll die!!

What's more, there aren't any nice shows in the morning!

Here's a list of the shows I'll miss:

  1. Wu chu cai hong -- mon to fri, 9pm, channel 8
  2. Zhen ming tian nu -- wed to fri, 7pm, channel U
  3. Kang xi lai le -- mon to fri, 5pm, cable
  4. Project runway -- mon, 10pm, channel 5
  5. Survivor -- fri, 10pm, channel 5

These are the shows that I'll really miss. There's still a long list of shows that I want to watch but won't miss as much.

I really, really want to watch wu chu cai hong and project runway!!!

Maybe I'll buy 8 days every week to read the synopses. It'll be useful for wu chu cai hong. But it doesn't mention who was eliminated in project runway!

Can someone be so kind as to tell me what happened?

But it still won't be the same hearing/reading the story compared to watching it! Ahh... Can I quit???

Maybe I'll get over this television thing soon... Or maybe not.

Anyway, that lady didn't tell us how much is our pay and we forgot to ask also. I think not many people will agree to work even before knowing how much they'll be paid.

Well, both of us are exceptions. We came to work for the experience. Money is secondary. Haha. *politically correct answer*

Anyway, since it's a hotel, shouldn't be too little la.

And for the uniform fitting, we were given the clothes to try and were told to go to some corner to change. It was blocked by bed sheets and stuff, but if somone came in, maybe to get the bedsheets, we might have screamed. Haha.

The uniform was a white shirt with short sleeves and 2 rows of button down the front, and black pants. Both were really loose but it was quite comfortable.

The auntie who got the clothes for us was very nice. She told us that her name was Lan too. Same as Zhang Lan. What a coincidence.

And we had to wear safety boots too, since we were working in the kitchen. But it's kinda weird. Safety boots in a kitchen? Is it a warzone or something?

And Zhang Lan's feet were quite small that the smallest size 5 was still too big.

Then Anutie Lan asked "Didn't you have to go through an interview?". We said no. Cos the school didn't interview us. But it's weird don't you think? You mean if there was an interview, Zhang Lan wouldn't have been chosen because her feet were small? Weird. Haha.

The uniform fitting was over by 4+.

To go home, I was supposed to walk to City Hall MRT station but in the end I walked the wrong direction and ended up at Carrefour before realising that I was in the completly wrong direction! Ahh... I know I have a bad sense of direction.

Anyway, I really hope this work experience would be fun. And maybe it'll help me forget about tv. Better still, they can install a television in the kitchen then I can watch while I'm working.

Good suggestion right? Maybe I should tell my supervisor!
