Santa Claus Ho ho ho...
There was swimming training today and I planned to go last night.
But when I woke up at 7.30am this morning, I decided not to go. Haha. I just didn't feel like it. So I went back to sleep.
Then I had lunch at the hotel with Zhang Lan. All meals at the canteen are provided free so we decided to try the lunch today.
Lunch is almost the same as dinner. Nothing really special.
When we started work, I piped the cream into the eclairs. There were lemon flavoured ones and coffee flavoured ones. There were about 100 in total.
After that, I piped the cream into about another 100 cream puffs.
It was quite fun and easy. Haha.
Zhang Lan was making Santa Clauses in the chocolate room. It's some dough pressed into a mould to make the shape. The chef wanted 100!
After I finished my cream puffs, I went to help her. And that was all we did for the rest of the day.
There were many steps to making one Santa Claus.
- First, make the face using the mould.
- Then make the beard using another mould.
- Make the hat with a third mould.
- Make the "ball" of the hat with a mould.
- Paint the hat red.
- Put on the other pieces.
- Paint the lips, cheeks and nose red.
Woah! So many steps to making just one Santa Claus. Now, do that 100 times!
I always thought these were machine-made, not hand made.
We did that until it was 9 plus then the chef told us to go back and continue tomorrow. We still have about one-third of the work left to do. Haiz.
But although it's tiring, the satisfaction is there when you see it finished!
