Delegating work
Recently, I found out the joy of being a leader.
You get to tell people to do stuff.
I liked to do things myself until I found myself up to my neck in work. Then, delegating stuff seemed so much fun! And I have the authority to do it too!
The only thing is that you got to tell people nicely. If not it'll seem like you're ordering them and they'll be relectant to do it.
But, I'm just angry over a particular incident.
I asked her to do something - call the new members and ask if they're coming.
She asked someone else to do it.
Fine.
But the thing is, she didn't relay the message properly. The other person messaged them instead of calling (seriously, the response is MUCH worse when you sms instead of calling!) and didn't ask if they were coming. In the end, we had to call them then and there to ask.
Made me seem like I was an inefficient leader because I was chairing the meeting. And I was the one who asked her to call in the first place.
Then when people don't know what happened, it seems like I've done a bad job.
And the worst thing is that I can't scold her, because we're all friends after all.
So, you think you can delegate work?
Fine, only if you can do it properly. Hmmph!
