Careers and Scholarships Fair

Today is the Careers and Scholarships fair at VJ.

In the morning, speakers from the 3 local universities came to talk to us about scholarships and studying at their schools. The main thing about local scholarships is that they don’t have bonds. So you won’t be tied down after your studies.

After lessons today, we went to the hall where there were many booths set up by the various organizations and where we got a lot of flyers and brochures. At first, I walked around with Sheryl and Li Yue. But after that, I got separated with them and was with Jasmine instead.

Jasmine is more interested in business and marketing, and she asked a lot of questions. I really learnt a lot more with her. Haha….

Then, we went for the EDB talk at LT3. It was almost the same as what we heard when we went to EDB with Bizclub the last time. It was the same guy too. And he’s still so funny…

Then, we walked around at the concourse, looking at the local universities’ booth.

At the NUS booth, the guy there was somewhat agitated. He kept arrowing the other 2 schools, especially SMU. It’s quite funny actually. And Jasmine, seeing his so agitated, wanted to shoot him further, asking him questions that put NUS down. And he really got more agitated. Haha… Jasmine is a really good speaker. Like the debate type. So I think he really got pressured by her. Haha… It was really very funny! We laughed a lot about it afterwards.

Later, I went for the KPMG talk. It was very useful cos I learnt a lot more about accounting. The speaker was from VJC, and he sang the whole Victorian Anthem. Haha… Such a funny guy! I really leant so much from this talk, and now, I’m so interested in the scholarship.

All in all, I’m interested in the EDB, GIC and KPMG scholarships. Thing is, I don’t know if I’m good enough to qualify. EDB and KPMG require good results, plus excellent CCA records. For GIC, it’s 4 A’s, at least B3 for GP and excellent CCA records. How to qualify like that? I’m especially attracted by the challenging career as a fund manager at GIC though.

Before today, I didn’t have any idea what I wanted to be. Now, I think I have a clearer picture. Going to meet Mr Ho, my teacher advisor, tomorrow. Hopefully I’ll have a clearer picture on what I want after that.
