A long post... beware :)

Some more birthday stuff

Also thanks to Joanne, Bernice, Cheryl, Vivien, Lujia (again), Maevbe, Norman, Wan'er and Sheryl for their birthday wishes...

I thought Sheryl had forgotten, but I received it the next morning. Seems like she wanted me to think that she forgot. Her message goes something like "you thought I forgot? No way! Happy Birthday! etc..." plus some cute pictures and stuff. She sent it at 12.37am on 1st Sepember.

Then when I thanked her for the wishes she said she had wanted to send it at 12 midnight, but fell asleep, so it was late. I got so touched! She purposely stayed up to send the message to me! And when she fell asleep, she deliberately woke up, so she could message me... Really very very touching. And she some more felt so bad for sending it late... Haha... :)

Anyway, Li Yue didn't message or call me. A little disappointed, but I guess she's too caught up in her art.

By the way, I received the best birthday present ever! It's from a guy!

Actually... it's from my brother. HA!

I was really very touched. He gave me a pair of earrings in a very nice little plastic bag. He knows I'm very excited about my birthday cos I tell him about how much I look forward to it everyday... Haha...

It was a big surprise cos we don't have the habit of giving each other birthday presents except for the occasional year when we're especially nice to each other... It was a pair of earrings, quite long, with white pearls at the end. I was planning to buy a pair somthing like that. And the weird thing is, I didn't tell him, neither did he ever go shopping with me!

I think it's the $2 type. And he said the lady gave him the nice plastic bag cos she thought he was buying for his girlfriend!

Nonetheless, I was really very touched! But I didn't tell him. You know, it just feels weird to tell your brother how much you love him. Haha... Anyway, I think our relationship has become much better this few months. Previously, he was going through that "attitude problem" stage. We couldn't have proper conversations without any tension. Now, it's much, much better. And I'm happy about that! :)

A Teachers' Day Tribute

It's Teachers' Day today! (ok, just pretend as though it's 1st September) I just wanna take this opportunity to thank all the teachers' that helped me grow throughout this whole 18 (yay! I'm 18. Haha...) years of my life... (As if teachers read my blog, but anyway...)

Mrs Chao. I will always remember my Primary 1 and 3 maths teacher. She was the one who first taught me maths, and I think it's the way she taught all of us that made me like maths so much. She really set the foundation for the way I think through maths problems and stuff like that. I think I'm pretty good in maths, and I'm proud of the way I think through problems. (though I don't say any of that out loud...)

Mr Chong. My Primary 4 and 5 form teacher. I had to change school after Primary 6 (because I moved house), so when I had to leave all my friends at the end of Primary 5, he wrote a very nice letter to the whole class, and mentioned me in it. By the way, he wrote the letter because it was also his last day teaching our class since we would have a new teacher in Primary 6. It wasn't soley because of me. Anyway, I took a picture with him and put it in a photo frame on my table. I kept it there for quite long, and I suspect my Mum thought I had a crush on him. Hah! :D

Li Li Qun lao shi. My Secondary 2 Chinese teacher. I used to hate Chinese... a lot! And my marks were seriously bad. For lessons, she split us into groups and we had to answer questions to get points for our groups. Some teachers have such systems too, but they some how fail. Li lao shi instead made it very fun! For spelling, we could get 1 point for our group if we got more than 90 marks, 5 points for full marks. At the beginning of the year, I told my group mates that it'll be impossible for me. But at the end of the year, 90 marks was becoming easy! I even got full marks once! Haha... From then on, I realised that Chinese wasn't as difficult as I imagined. It was just a issue of getting over the psychological barrier.

Mr Ong. The funny Secondary 3 Physics teacher. He's very funny, and not your average gentleman teacher. Instead, he was quite vulgar. No F words, but he used the adjective "stupid" a lot. Not referring to students of course... That always made us laugh and somehow it made Physics questions seem so much easier to tackle. Miracle! Haha... More teachers should do that. He told us he isn't very popular with the school adminstration and people in high places (like the Principal), and sometimes talk bad about them. But the students all love him! Haha...

Mr Lim. My current Chimistry teacher for 2 years now. I've actually said quite a few times that he's a really nice teacher, but I can never emphasise that fact more. HE'S REALLY A VERY NICE TEACHER! Anwyay, tell you something funny... During remedial the other day, instead of "reaction", he said "erection"! Haha... We all laughed until siao...

Mrs Chuah. Horti teacher in charge, and my Maths tutor for 2 years now. Although her very conventional thinking can really drive me crazy sometimes, I've really learnt a lot from her through horti. And I thank her for helping us with the mess during the V day flower sales. All of us really grew up a lot from that experience!

Plus thanks to all the other teachers that have taught me. I seriously appreciate them! HAPPY TEACHERS' DAY TO YOU ALL! :)

Line Dancing (1st September)

Fine, laugh if you find it funny, but I went for my first lesson of line dancing with my Mum in the evening!

Actually I'm quite interested in it, so when my Mum said she wanted to join, I said I would join too under the pretext of accompanying her. Haha... :)

It seems really simple. There are 4 sets of 8 counts of dance steps. Then after those 4 sets, you just repeat everything over and over again. It's that simple!

But, for someone like me, a dancing idiot with 2 left feet, it's no mean feat. I kept turning the wrong way, and couldn't remember the steps! All those aunties danced better than me.

Well, it's because it's my first lesson and the class is already halfway through. So we didn't learn the previous dances. But even for the one that we leant on the day itself, I had problems catching up. My Mum too. So maybe it's because we need time to get used to it first...

It was really a lot of fun, but I got quite dizzy from looking at people's feet all the time and turning so much. There was this sick feeling in my stomach.

The people there were all very nice though! There was a girl younger than me, and she danced really well! There was another slightly younger lady, and all the rest were aunties. I guess I'll become even more auntie than I am now after hanging out with them. Haha...

There was one particular auntie who danced really, really well, and was teaching the others who couldn't catch up.

Overall, there was this very warm feeling among this group of (not so young) women. I enjoyed myself a lot! :)
